Global Green Generation (G3) Charter School
Pacoima, CA
Sustainability was a key component to the design of a new charter elementary school (70,000sf) that will serve 600 students. The school is divided into six major learning pods, each containing four classrooms. The campus includes a food service area, library, flexible classrooms, outdoor classrooms, Zen garden, playground and a community joint-use theater (5,500sf). Designed in accordance with Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) standards the school includes a photovoltaic system (to be added in the future) that will produce energy to satisfy 30-40% of the school’s needs. The school received High Performance Incentive (HPI) certification. Marshall Lewis, AIA, completed the schematic design and collaborated with CSDA for the remainder of the project.
