June Jordan School for Equity High School / City Arts and Technology (CAT) High School

San Francisco, CA

Built in the late 1940’s and early 1950s, a former middle school was modernized and remodeled to provide facilities for two charter high schools, the June Jordan School for Equity HS (100 students) and the CAT HS (371 students). Extensive modernization was performed to bring the school into ADA compliance; to upgrade utilities and fire/life safety systems; and to improve interior and exterior building finishes. Classrooms were redesigned to accommodate science laboratories, choral and band practice rooms, art classrooms and administration offices. Sustainable features include energy saving lighting and motion detectors and “green” materials and finishes.
