American Cooperative School of Tunis (ACST)

CSDA recently completed an Existing Facilities Analysis and Programming Study for The American Cooperative School of Tunis (ACST). Firm principals Cindy Ketelsen and Mark Knoerr spent a week in Tunisia working with faculty, staff, parents and students identifying space requirements both present and future.
The ACST provides an American educational system for approximately 450 multi-national students in grades Pre-K through 12. The school has been at its present site since 1961 and is located near the American Embassy. The existing buildings are of varying ages and have undergone modest renovations and additions with throughout the years.

Specific goals for the ACST Campus Needs Assessment, as developed through the master planning process, are to:

• Evaluate the adequacy of the educational, administrative and support spaces required for the campus operations.
• Evaluate the site conditions, building systems, and utility infrastructure and determine impacts on the educational facility.
• Provide a compilation of recommendations of facility components and systems that need to be demolished, constructed, modernized or    renovated.
• Provide suggestions for prioritizing facility improvements over the short-term, mid-term and long-term.
