CSDA provided acoustical consulting services for various I Love Kickboxing (ILKB) fitness studios. The projects consist of tenant fit-outs within commercial and mixed-use spaces. We evaluated designs for compliance with landlord lease language, code compliance, and noise and vibration impact to nearby adjacencies.
Located in the City of Emeryville, CA, the 6701 Shellmound project consists of a mixed-use, seven-story building with residences, retail, and amenity spaces. A total of 211 residential units are planned. The project site is situated in close proximity to major freeways and an active rail line used by both freight and passenger trains.
CSDA was contracted by Urban Planning Partners to conduct an environmental noise and vibration study to quantify the existing environmental noise and vibration levels at the site. CSDA completed the study and provided a final report with mitigation recommendations to meet the acoustical criteria in accordance with the City’s General Plan Noise Element and State Building Code, as well as rail vibration criteria stipulated by the Federal Transit Administration.
The Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension (SVBX) is the 10-mile, two station, and first phase of Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) expansion to San Jose. The SVBX will bring commuters into Silicon Valley with convenient connections to bus and light rail that serve major employers including Cisco Systems, Adobe and Ebay. After extensive federal and state environmental analyses, it was determined that project noise could adversely impact approximately 500 residences. Project services to mitigate noise impacts to residents include acoustical testing; preparation of noise reports, architectural design plans, technical specifications and cost estimates; obtaining building permits; and providing homeowner outreach and construction administration services.
