Sustainability was a key component to the design of a new charter elementary school (70,000sf) that will serve 600 students. The school is divided into six major learning pods, each containing four classrooms. The campus includes a food service area, library, flexible classrooms, outdoor classrooms, Zen garden, playground and a community joint-use theater (5,500sf). Designed in accordance with Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) standards the school includes a photovoltaic system (to be added in the future) that will produce energy to satisfy 30-40% of the school’s needs. The school received High Performance Incentive (HPI) certification. CSDA served as the executive architect for the project and worked in association with Marshall Lewis, AIA.
In June of 2014, G3 was featured as OPSC’s “Project of the Month.”
