CSDA worked on the 1951 Shattuck Avenue project, a mixed-use development with 156 residential rental units ranging from studios to 3 bedroom apartments, as well as amenities. Full-service consulting services are being provided, from schematic design through construction administration. An environmental noise study as well as post-construction measurements will be conducted.
The new two-story Administration and Theater building will provide the campus with a new identity and connection to the community. The center lobby serves as both the school’s main entrance for visitors and theater guests. The south wing houses administration and student support services on the first floor and classroom space on the second. The north wing houses a multi-use theater with retractable stadium seating for 300, a floor level stage and full lighting and audio visual systems. The theater is flanked by dressing rooms, a drama classroom and backstage area. The boomerang shape of the building creates an intimate court yard interior to the campus for outdoor gathering and performance activities.
CSDA also provided acoustical designs for the building, with specific attention focused on the performing arts spaces. A detailed analysis of room acoustics, sounds isolation, and HVAC noise/vibration reduction was performed. Designs to enhance speech intelligibility, while retaining the theater’s musicality, were provided. Sound isolation recommendations were tailored to provide a high level of noise reduction between the theater and adjacent spaces.
CSDA provided acoustical consulting services for the 420 Sutter Hotel in San Francisco, CA. The project consists of the construction of a new 12-story tourist hotel building. There will also be a rooftop deck for passive recreational use, a ground level lobby/public space and retail.
Our scope of acoustical consulting services includes an Environmental Noise Study complying with the City’s Entertainment Commission requirements to quantify noise from nearby places of entertainment. The Study included the calculation of required window STC ratings to meet the Building Code and City of San Francisco acoustical standards.
CSDA provided architectural design services for a new physical education building as well as a new multi-purpose room, lunch pavilion and student store on an existing campus.
The new physical education building, houses two regulation basketball courts, a volleyball court, fitness center, a classroom, storage, locker rooms with adjacent offices, conference room and storage facilities. The second building houses a new multi-purpose room with a performing arts stage, a lunch pavilion with a full kitchen and indoor and outdoor seating and an adjacent student store.
Construction was phased to allow use of the previously existing physical education building. A prominent set of terraced and landscaped steps was constructed to tie in the new physical education building to the existing campus. This also doubles as an outdoor learning space for class gatherings and extracurricular activities. Additionally, we provided infrastructure for Photovoltaic systems on both building roofs, as well as shade structures for the new adjacent parking areas.
CSDA was retained to provide acoustical consulting services for this mixed-use project located along busy Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. The project consists of a 97-unit apartment building with Type V wood frame construction over a Type I podium. We provided an environmental noise study, along with architectural acoustics input for demising assemblies such as party walls and floor-ceiling assemblies. An analysis of HVAC and mechanical noise/vibration was also conducted.
