Longfellow Elementary School Modernization

This 45,400 square feet project was designed and constructed in multiple phases to minimize campus disruption. The main building has a two-story classroom wing over a partially below-grade basement and a two-story round structure that houses the cafeteria and kitchen on the ground floor and the auditorium with a stage on the first floor. The two wings are connected by a two-story corridor which also serves as the main entry on Morse Street.

The site includes two terraced asphalt play yards and one dedicated kindergarten asphalt play yard. The mid-century modern buildings are concrete structures with steel stud framing. This project was a comprehensive modernization project which addressed issues of accessibility, structural retrofit, educational programming, security, mechanical and electrical upgrades, materials replacements and window system replacements.

CSDA has completed seven Comprehensive Campus Modernization projects for San Francisco Unified School District in the last 14 years.
