Tucson International Airport Residential Sound Insulation

Design and construction administration services were provided to make acoustical modifications to reduce the interior noise levels of over 150 homes impacted by aircraft noise from Tucson International Airport. Improvements were funded through grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and included retrofitting homes with acoustic windows and doors and modifying ventilation systems.

CSDA was responsible for leading the design effort and coordinating with local Mechanical, Electrical and Hazardous Materials sub-consultants. Once designs were completed, CSDA representatives met with each homeowner to discuss the scope of work and obtain sign-off on the drawings. Utilizing the final plans, CSDA developed bid packages, including specifications and details.

CSDA assisted the Airport during the bid process and once the bid was awarded, provided product submittal review and attended the general contractor’s Verification Field Measurements to answer any questions in the field and to document existing conditions.

During construction, CSDA observed the work and served as a liaison between the homeowner and the contractor, answering homeowner questions and addressing their concerns.
